Is it Safe to place an
order at eXpressKaraoke?
Security is the most important portion of customer service for any business conducting
commerce on the Internet today. At Express Karaoke, we take the issue very seriously.
Our commerce application is built on Microsoft's Internet Information Server for
Windows NT 4.0.Provided you are using an SSL-enabled (Secure Socket Layering)
browser such as Netscape's Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you'll
be able to conduct end-to-end encrypted transactions without fear of an intermediary
obtaining your credit card information. If you'd like to learn more about how
this technology works, check out Netscape's "On Internet Security".
What
if I don't have a secure browser?
No problem! You can download a free copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
I think my browser supports
SSL Security but I'm not sure.
We've got you covered. Our Secure Server will perform a "browser detect". This
just means that it will determine if you are able to conduct end-to-end encrypted
transactions. If not, we'll serve you with a special order form that notifies
you that your browser cannot conduct a secure order. Then you can choose option
A or B from below.
My browser is not secure
and my Online Service won't let me use any other browser.
You've got two choices here and they're both easy!
A. Fax it! Simply
complete the order form including your credit card information. Then, print it
and fax it! You'll find the fax number on the order form.
B. Choose
the 'callme' option and type your phone number into the 'voice' input field, fill
the rest of the information (i.e. your name, address, city, state, zip country and
the titles you are looking to purchase) and click on the "Submit Order" button.
We'll call you to collect your confidential information.
Is there a down-side
to security?
If you've previously visited
a site using encryption, you might have noticed a drop in speed on that server.
This is due in large part to the encryption and decryption that is taking place
for every packet of information sent or received. At eXpressKaraoke, we've kept
this performance drain to a minimum by securing only the order form. We didn't
create encrypted privacy for any other part of the site because there simply wasn't
a need to.
